We are proud to announce the first of our driver line-up, Kewyn Snyman, a 20 year old Superbike racer from South Africa. Kewyn has been dipping his toe into the world of sim racing over the past year or two, and has decided to take it to the next level. After getting to grips with the model behind sim racing with the trusty Assetto Corsa title, he has made the switch over to the more serious platform, iRacing. As is most of the world, South Africa where he is based is in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak and is in total lockdown, this being the perfect time to switch from spanners in the workshop to his sim rig to really step up the hours in the virtual driving seat.

As everybody is confined to their homes, we have seen the clear explosion in the world of eSports, and especially virtual motorsport, with almost every major series turning to sim racing to give their fans, supporters and sponsors the entertainment and exposure every person is needing!

We sat down with Kewyn Snyman and ran through a few general questions with him, so our readers can get to know him better, the name is definitely not going anywhere!

Briefly describe your Sim Racing rig:

3x 27inch monitors, basic i5 pc box, custom built frame with a basic non adjustable seat, Logitech G29 wheel and pedals, I REALLY want a Fanatec setup… Father Christmas?

Sim Racing career until now?

The beginning of it all was only based on Assetto Corsa, which is amazing because of the modding capabilities but its got a lot of people messing around generally which is frustrating, in March 2020 I moved over to iRacing and just love the seriousness.

What is your career target in Sim Racing?

I would really like to get to the top of iRacing, its a very long journey..but if I am sitting playing, I might as well plan and direct it to boost me up the ladder.

What do you expect from the team?

I really like the fact that its people from completely different places, it adds really nice diversity and because everyone has different routes we all have different strong points and can learn from each other.

What can you bring to the team beyond your racing skills?

I believe I can bridge the gap between real racers especially on motorcycles, to the sim and general car racing world. It needs to become a more known thing that just because its a car, it is extremely valuable practice even for motorcycle racers, its really about the thought process that is being developed being able to do more physical racing, its one of those things.. Why would you turn down gaining experience?

Real Life Motorsport Experience?

Been involved with motorsport since birth. My racing career started in 2013…and I have never looked back!
