Virtual Canadian GP: Jon Olsson and Alex Albon to lead Red Bull

Former skiing sensation and Red Bull athlete Jon Olsson will partner Formula 1 driver Alex Albon for this weekend’s Virtual Canadian GP, the eighth and final round of the F1 Esports Virtual GP Series.

Jon is a former gold-medal winning skier from Sweden known for inventing several different styles of double flips, and since retiring from competition has gone on to become an award-winning vlogger with over 1.4m YouTube subscribers.

He commented, “I’ve been lucky enough to drive some pretty insane cars over the years and I love driving on track although I’ve never tried a sim!! So, the chance to race a classic circuit is something I’m super amped for. F1 has always been a huge passion of mine and usually I’m watching every single practice session over a race weekend – so I’m loving the experience of being part of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing alongside Alex – I can’t wait for the lights to go out!!”

With Formula 1 returning to action next month on 5 July at our home circuit, the Red Bull Ring, the Virtual Grands Prix will come to an end this weekend at Canada’s Circuit de Gilles-Villeneueve before the real on-track action resumes.

You can watch Jon and Alex in action this Sunday 14 June from 18:00 BST with the F1 Esports Pro Exhibition Race kicking off one hour earlier at 17:00.
