iRacing Classic Indycar Series Round 3 Kansas 25/04/21

The great folks over at the Classic Indycar Series in iRacing are back in town with round 3 approaching at Kansas on 25/04/21.

Featuring a great track guide as a build up to the event, the series continues hot off the heels from round 2 at Long beach.

Kansas preview:

The last (and so far only) time that CIS visited Kansas Speedway was April 2018. It was a cold and cloudy day when 29 drivers took the green flag. The race became famous for the finish when a restart with 6 laps to go saw the first 4 drivers all spinning into the wall on cold and used tires. Henry Bennett was able to avoid the mess and in a 2-lap shootout keeping the upper hand over his teammate Liam Quinn by just 0.042 seconds. David Sustello completed the podium.
The drivers of the 2021 CIS season are facing the challenge of oval racing for the first time and it is expected to see some other names upfront compared to the first two rounds on road and street courses. Some oval specialists like Nate Michael, Cody Luke and others will start their season only now, with back-to-back oval events at Kansas and Motegi.
The championship fight is getting intense already and all eyes will be on Ethan Agan, who is leading the points after a phenomenal start to the season. Defending champion Lucas Laville is in close contention in an effort to keep the #1 on his car for next year as well. Series Rookie Troy Dolinschek is currently 3rd in points, and it will be interesting to see how he manages oval racing. Joshua Chin is back in the game after a dominant performance at Long Beach 2 weeks ago.
The race is scheduled for 200 laps (300 miles) with a 2-hour time limit. We hope to finish on laps rather than on time, but it all depends on the number of cautions. With an expected big grid, with a lot of talented drivers, the stage is set for an exciting Round 3 of the 2021 campaign!

The race will be broadcasted live Sunday at 18:00 GMT on Racespot TV and re-aired on ESTV exactly 1 week later, also at 18:00 GMT.
