The Classic Indycar Series returns after a short break. The drivers are fired up and ready to go for round 5 at Watkins Glen. 06/06/21.
We have seen some very exciting racing from the CIS, memorable races and a season so far that can go any way. Defending champion Lucas Laville has a championship to defend, whilst the hunting pack mounts pressure to test the champ. Robert Grosser Founder of the CIS, racer and reporter brings us up to speed for round 5 at Watkins Glen.
The Classic Indycar Series returns to Watkins Glen for the 5th round of the 2021 season. After a short break during the “Month of May” we are finally back with what has been an exciting season so far. Watkins Glen hosted 3 races in this series history before, the most recent one in 2020. Joshua Chin came back after missing 3 races with a dominant performance into victory lane! A similar performance this year would help him to catch Lucas Laville and Ethan Agan, who are currently P1 & 2 in the overall standings. But there are more than 10 drivers well capable of scoring a podium finish.
Watkins Glen is a fast track with a nice flow and some tricky corners. Drivers will have to choose between high or low downforce which gives advantages on different parts of the track. Since the fuel capacity is good for more than 20 laps, we should see everyone on a 2-stop-strategy. The “Edifice Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix” will be broadcast live on Racespot TV Sunday at 18:00 GMT and re-aired one week later, June 13th at 18:00 GMT on ESTV. Tune in!
